CORA IBARRA, J.F. et al. Anaplasmosis bovina en provincia de Buenos Aires durante 2015. RIA. Rev. investig. agropecu. [online]. 2021, vol.47, n.1, pp.98-103.  Epub 21-Abr-2021. ISSN 1669-2314.

Anaplasma marginale is an intracellular bacterium that infects bovine erythrocytes causing extravascular hemolysis and anemia. Bovine anaplasmosis is endemic in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. In template regions, anaplasmosis is sporadic and usually associated with the movement of infected cattle from endemic regions. Infection occurs after transmission of parasitized erythrocytes from an infected bovine to a healthy one, through hematophagous ectoparasites such as ticks or species of Diptera insects. Iatrogenic and transplacental transmission is also usually frequent. Clinical anaplasmosis affect mainly naïve adult cattle (> 2 years old). Considering Buenos Aires province naturally anaplasmosis-free, the main aim of this work is to describe unusually frequent outbreaks of bovine anaplasmosis registered by the Diagnostic Veterinary Service at INTA Balcarce in the Buenos Aires province, during the year 2015. Clinical, pathological and epidemiological characteristics of these outbreaks are described in order to emphaticize predisposing factors which could explain the frequent presentation of the disease. This characterizations demonstrate the importance of including anaplasmosis as a differential diagnosis in non-endemic regions, in order to improve the rapid identification of the disease and initiate a correct treatment and control and reduce economic losses.
