MANSILLA, H. C. F.. A critical approach to Andean philosophy. Enfoques [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.2, pp.25-40. ISSN 1669-2721.

In the Andean area between Ecuador and Bolivia there are actually many efforts which try to produce an own thinking, based on the indigenous (non-Occidental) roots of that region. It is a wide-spread and politically strong movement which tries to recover the own cultural traditions of pre-Hispanic origin, including philosophy. The result is often a collectivistic thinking with a revolutionary, anti-imperialist and anti-elitarian bias. The most important reconstruction of this thinking is due to Josef Estermann. In the same time it is an effort to reject the rationalist Western conceptions. Andean philosophy turns to be the rather artificial reconstruction of ancient wisdom, which has been accumulated and transmitted along many generations without an autocritical factor, which leads to produce authoritarian and dogmatic traits.
