ELIAS CARO, Jorge Enrique. Political-military relations between two royalist provinces of the Great Caribbeam basin: Santa Marta and Havana. 1810-1815. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.1. ISSN 1669-9041.
This paper analyzes the political-military relations between Santa Marta, on the Caribbean New Granada, and Havana during the Independence years. Two port cities where the monarchical ideal was well-rooted and where there was considerable activity to support the King with the backing of the Cadiz Cortes, in order to maintain the hegemony of the Crown. This paper also explains the governmental initiatives and reactions that these two cities had in this context of the independence wars led by the patriots. Furthermore, it examines some or the particular characteristics of the naval, fluvial and land battles held by these two royalist cities against others that had embraced the cause of the independence during the period 1810-1815.
