CONSTANTINO ORTIZ, María Eugenia. Cucuyos for the King and an enlightened naturalist's Instrucción Circular: Franco Dávila. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1669-9041.

The Instrucción Circular written by Pedro Franco Dávila in 1776 was designed and used as a tool for requesting and gathering natural productions that were meant to be part of the collections of the Royal Cabinet of Natural History in Madrid. Its contents showed visions of a natural world configured by the words in travelers' diaries and natural histories rooted in 16th Century. This paper aims to explore different sources from where Dávila was inspired to create one of the main documents of Spanish Monarchy collecting, as well as the aftermaths, tensions and troubles of putting it into practice.
