NORANDO, Verónica. From the "poor worker" to the "courageous militant" and "protective mother": Communist representations of the textile workers Argentina, 1938-1946. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2017, vol.16, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 1669-9041.

In this paper I will explore the generalized discourse towards women workers in the sector, emphasizing how femininity was constructed and how communism was challenged by women as workers in the textile industry. The analysis of this discourse allows us to glimpse the constitution of a proletarian representation that from the Communist Party (PC) was promoted towards the workers and allows, in turn, to highlight the image of the feminine from the trade paper (El Obrero Textil) and the Press of the PC, as well as to put in value those ideas and to show that they play a key role in the constitution of a feminine worker representation. In the pages that follow, I examine the questioning of women workers in the textile industry from a point of view that considers gender relations as a social relation, from a perspective that also nourishes social history.
