ORTIZ, María Laura. “Fight, win, rank and file to power”: Possibilities and difficulties for emergence of clasistas clusters in some unions in Córdoba during the transition to democracy (1972-1974. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2020, vol.19, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1669-9041.

This article discusses some clasistas experiences that developed between 1972 and 1974 in small and medium factories of Córdoba and some service sectors. The characteristics of the clasistas clusters that emerged in these areas will be described, recognizing the potentialities of their interventions and explaining the difficulties of their institutionalization. The period in question was marked by the transition to democracy, since in 1972 there was the call for elections by the dictatorship of the self-proclaimed "Argentine Revolution" that had been implanted in 1966.In this context, the need to democratize trade union structures has been experienced in a number of sectors, increasing the participation of the workers' rank and file. This was the case at local branches of the Mechanics and Allied Automotive Transport Workers Union (SMATA), following the victory of the Trade Union Recovery Movement (MRS) in 1972, which is a well-known and remembered case. The characteristics of the SMATA experience were shared by clasistas workers in other sectors, both services and production of dynamic and vegetative sectors. In them, the group of clasistasrank and file sought to intervene in their unions to achieve a democratization that broadened participation and commitment in the defense of economic dignity and shop floor conditions. The fact that they have not managed to lead their unions does not mean that they are not aware of their attempts to organize, for which they had the support of the local General Confederation of Labor (CGT) and the provincial government, as well as some leftist Marxist and revolutionary Peronist organizations.
