DUPUY, Gabriel. La fractura digital hoy. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2007, vol.3, n.9, pp.115-133. ISSN 1850-0013.

Born in the United Status in the 1980s, the notion of digital fracture has experienced a growing success, as the new information and communication technologies (NICT) developed. Currently, the idea that the unequal access to ICT divides societies and territories is commonly admitted. However, through the examination of the phenomenon, the analysts have given precision to the definition of the digital fracture. Thus, we insist hereinafter on the relevance of non-technological (social, cultural…) fractures for accessing and practising ICT. Moreover, we stress sometimes the cumulative nature of access inequalities. In this article we address two examples representative of this evolution of the notion of digital fracture: the case of the North-South fracture, and the case of the "grey" fracture, referred to ancient people.

Palavras-chave : Digital fracture; Digital divide; Information society; ICT.
