AZEVEDO COELHO, Márcia; MORALES, Ana Paula  e  VOGT, Carlos. High School Teachers' Perception Of Science And Technology Themes. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2016, vol.11, n.32, pp.09-36. ISSN 1850-0013.

This article presents an overview of the relation between high school teachers of São Paulo and science and technology, through such aspects as: S&T information habits; the image of science and technology; views on scientists and their profession; their take on the youths’ interest in professional training and scientific vocations; and pedagogical practices related to S&T. Results were compared to those obtained through the research work carried out by young Brazilian students within the framework of the project Young People’s View On Science And The Scientific Profession, developed by Labjor/Unicamp and OEI-RICYT network. A semi-structured questionaire was applied, using the same methodological basis as the one adopted for S&T public perception research works carried out over a decade ago by Labjor/Unicamp jointly with other Ibero-American institutions. Findings reveal a strong connection between teachers’ scientific information consumption index and their pedagogical practices potentially capable of arising students’ interest in science and scientific activities.
