FERNANDEZ CEZAR, Raquel et al. Students And Teachers’ Attitude Towards Mathematics In Childhood And Primary Education: A Review Of The Adaptation Of A Tailored Scale. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2016, vol.11, n.33, pp.227-238. ISSN 1850-0013.
This work represents the first stage of a wider project that aims at analyzing teacher trainees’ and practicing teachers’ attitudes towards mathematics in childhood and primary education in the Ibero-American context. In order to do that, we carried out a review of the literature on the implemented tools, and we identified the questionnaire that is extensively used in the Spanish- speaking world: Auzmendi’s questionnaire. We analyzed its appropriateness regarding our sample population, which was made up of 205 teacher trainees of childhood and primary school through an exploratory factorial and confirmatory analysis carried out using SPSS v22 software. The results show that for this sample the five-factor model of the questionnaire is not appropriate, whereas a model of one factor with seven items seems to be more adequate. We concluded that Auzmendi’s modified questionnaire is a good tool to assess the anxiety factor in the context of this project.
