Various social movements emerged globally in response to the rise of xenophobia in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Chile, a Chilean-Asian community emerged on social media within the framework of the #StopAsianHate movement. This article describes the emergence of this community, examining its challenges in contrast to other racialized groups in the country. Research is based on the analysis of ten Instagram accounts of Chilean-Asian persons, and informed by previous research on the role of “Chineseness” in Chilean national identity. Ultimately, this article proposes that the self-articulation of Chileans who also identify as Chinese, Korean, or Asian constitutes efforts to insist on redefining “Chilean” society in more diverse and inclusive ways.
