CARRASCOSA ESTENOZ, Leire  e  PEDROTTA, Victoria. Recent Archaeological Research At Santa Inés Iv Site, Tandilia Mountain System, Pampean Region. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.2, pp.249-260. ISSN 1850-373X.

The Santa Ines IV site is composed of a semi-perimetrical structure constructed using the pirca technique with walls of fitted stone blocks. It is associated with a set of similar stone buildings located in the Sierra Alta de Vela (in the central portion of the Tandilia mountain system). Archaeological investigations carried out at this site include environmental and architectonic studies, the taking of soil samples from inside and outside the construction for chemical analyses, the collecting of surface archaeological materials and the excavation of test pits. To date, the recovered materials include vitreous and, predominantly, faunal remains. The present article synthesizes and integrates the data obtained by means of these various analytical pathways, in which prior proposed functions for the three structures that form the site are a focus of the evaluation. Finally, the results are framed within a more general discussion on the origin, function and chronology of the numerous stone buildings located in the Tandilia System.
