Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.2, pp.293-305. ISSN 1850-373X.

In this paper, the results of the analysis of biosiliceous microfossils in the sedimentary sequences of Lobería I archaeological site, Eastern Tandilia range (Buenos Aires, Argentina), are presented. Three profiles were analyzed, two of which are located inside a rockshelter (site 1 of Lobería I) and the third from an open air site on the banks of the Las Flores stream in a mountain valley, with no evidence of anthropic influence. Biosiliceous indicators enabled an interpretation that the Pleistocene-Holocene transition included cold, dry weather, which was progressively replaced towards the Holocene by warm and humid conditions, interspersed with peaks of aridity and humidity. The two sampled profiles were differentiated at different points of the archaeological site and the profile was taken from the open air site, although the latter presented some similarities because of a more exposed site profile. Biosiliceous records enabled micro-regional variations and individual microenvironments in the rockshelter to be estimated, as well as general trends that fit within regional paleoenvironmental models. Such models indicate increased aridity and a colder climate during the early Holocene, and warmer and wetter conditions , although with fluctuations in humidity, towards the middle Holocene.
