CASTILLO COSTA, Yanina B. et al. Post Infarction Cardiogenic Shock: Is It Clinically Important to Differentiate Hemodynamic Patterns?. Rev. argent. cardiol. [online]. 2013, vol.81, n.5, pp.435-438. ISSN 1850-3748.

Despite recent advances in the treatment of cardiogenic shock, it still remains the main cause of mortality in patients hospitalized for acute myocardial infarction. Although cardiogenic shock is classically described as a hemodynamic condition characterized by low cardiac output, increased filling pressure and elevated systemic vascular resistance, some patients present different features, as low systemic resistance, fever and leucocytosis, expressing an important systemic inflammatory response. The clinical importance of having one hemodynamic pattern or the other is currently unknown. However, the existence of two different hemodynamic patterns should indicate revaluation of the medical support treatment in this severely ill group of patients. The aim of this work was to analyze the incidence of each type of cardiogenic shock (classic and distributive), its clinical characteristics and its in-hospital outcome.
