GOTTARDO, Marcelo Oscar. Availability of cell phones by operating system as a connection device in university students during the 2020 pandemic. Rev. iberoam. tecnol. educ. educ. tecnol. [online]. 2021, n.28, pp.244-250. ISSN 1851-0086.
The results of a survey on smartphones1 availability and its operating system in students of the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional Facultad Regional Buenos Aires - Argentina are analyzed, compared to the statistical data provided by the Instituto Nacional de EstadÃsticas y Censos (INDEC) of Argentina. Out of a population of 1,721 first-year students from different Engineering (Systems, Chemistry, Mechanics, Textile, Electronics, Civil, Naval, Electrical, Industrial), 2904 responses were obtained in virtual surveys. Out of 2170 responses 87.7% were filled out using a smartphone. Only 11 students out of 2904 preferred to wait for present evaluations. The main operating system used in cell phones based on our survey were Android in 71.7% and iOS in 24.7% out of 2170 cases. The availability of individual mobile devices allowed that, in addition to midterm and remedial exams, students who had to take final exams were evaluated. The questionnaire on devices availability was a whole part of all evaluations carried out by the UDB Chemistry professors for which Google Forms was used. [1]
