MENDES, Luiz Otavio Rodrigues; LUZ, João Alessandro da  e  PEREIRA, Ana Lucia. Mathematics and Remote Learning: Perceptions of High School Students. Rev. iberoam. tecnol. educ. educ. tecnol. [online]. 2021, n.28, pp.370-378. ISSN 1851-0086.

The COVID-19 pandemic was a complicated process and, specifically, for education. In view of this, we aim to highlight the view of high school students about this moment. 162 2nd and 3rd year students from public schools in the state of Paraná-Brazil participated. The data collected through an electronic questionnaire were analyzed qualitatively, according to the principles of Bardin's Content Analysis. Four categories emerged regarding: I-difficulties related to Mathematics content; II-difficulties related to the teacher in the sense of the impossibility of clarifying the content due to the format initially adopted for synchronous classes and the lack of his presence; III-difficulties linked to students, in the sense of having a lack of concentration in the classroom and lack of time to study, and IV-difficulties linked to the teaching and learning process remotely, in relation to the use of technologies, the format of remote teaching and learning in general. In addition, despite 27.7% conforming to the situation, the other students highlighted some points to improve the situation, such as: reducing the number of assignments and classes to answer questions with the teacher through Google Meet. Finally, 91.4% said they preferred face-to-face education.

Palavras-chave : Remote teaching; COVID-19 pandemic; Teaching difficulties; Synchronous classes.
