This work informs about evaluative methodology research that is carried out in association to the Health-Promoting Schools Programme developed by Public Health and Mental Health I. This paper is a brief overview of how certain social determinants impact on educational institutions of high school from a perspective that highlights different systems and levels for their understanding and later intervention. Through of examples and illustrations it will be exposed the fundamental characteristics of the Health promoting schools program and the of qualitative research that allow us to think about the use of this type of research associated with intervention in health, education and promotion programmes, highlighting the following dimensions: a) components of the evaluation from a systemic point of view; b) combination of methods and research techniques; c) participation and empowerment of the participants involved; d) empowerment institutionals merge.
