The theoretical and methodological approaches of the researches that I have carried out in the field of education during my master's and doctoral courses have served as guiding thread in the present text which I employ to talk about my academic trajectory as an indigenous researcher. The status of ‘engaged’ or ‘organic intellectual’,  given my ethnic political militancy in the indigenous movement and my professional activity in the area of indigenous pedagody, was a positition that motivated me to ask questions about knowledge construction processes, especially in the social sciences and humanities. In my investigations, in which I employed the theoretical and methodological contributions of anthropology to investigate the meanings of the educational process and of being an indigenous teacher, as well as in the readings that I made of the ‘rituals’ of pedagogical practices, I was able to problematize  methods and research references due to my condition of being an indigenous researcher. The descriptions presented below aim to exemplify how the researcher’s political insertion influences their formative pathways, highlighting the role of researcher engagement with theie theme and their relationship to the subjects they study.
