Cienc. docencia tecnol. [online]. 2016, n.53, pp.103-117. ISSN 1851-1716.

In this article we present an innovative proposal that allows the approaching of the concept of energy by an integration of reading tasks and the use of new technologies in the science class. We designed and implemented a workshop with students of secondary education in order to explore the transformations and transfers of energy in everyday processes. We include in this article the activities designed to favour comprehension of the selected written material in a non-traditional way and to promote the multiliteracy of the students mediated by reading and the use of simulations. The results suggest that the group guided reading, the creative use of applets and the production of short texts related to the scientific content have helped students analyze what happens to energy in different interactions, which would improve comprehension of the discipline contents and, consequently, its learning.
