LAVALLE, María del Carmen; MENGASCINI, Adriana e RODRIGUEZ, Mónica. Intercellular pectic protuberances in neotropical species of Marattia (Marattiaceae-Pteridophyta). Bol. Soc. Argent. Bot. [online]. 2008, vol.43, n.3-4, pp.247-253. ISSN 1851-2372.
Intercellular pectic protuberances (IPP) found in mesophyll cells of neotropical species of Marattia were studied with SEM. The IPP were examinated to determine if they could provide diagnostic characters. Morphologically, three major types are described: pectic warts, filaments and connections (strands). The use of morphological variation with taxonomic character is useful as a complement of other sporophyte traits.
