FERRERE, P; LUPI, A. M  e  BOCA, R. T. Estimation of aerial biomass in Eucalyptus viminalis Labill trees and stands. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.2, pp.100-113. ISSN 1851-3026.

Adjusted models are direct-application tools to estimate biomass in different compartments applicable to environmental studies of CO2 fixation, determination of lumber biomass and bio-energy biomass. Twelve plantations of Eucalyptus viminalis Labill were identified and sampled in the Central West area of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Models were adjusted and selected to estimate aerial biomass (leaves, branches and shafts) of individual trees and stands. Linear models of individual-tree were adjusted to estimate components of biomass, and the log transformation of diameter at breast height (dbh) and total height (h) was considered as one of the best fit. As regards stands' mean height, the model with the best performance was the one considering dbh and age. In order to estimate aerial biomass at the stand level, non-linear equations were used. The model of Gompertz showed the best accuracy, so its use is suggested.
