SIRKA, C. E.; MONZON, L.; OVIEDO, I.  e  MIGUEL, A.. Population fluctuation of brúquidos (Rhipibruchus sp.-Coleoptera) in forest formations native to white algarrobo (Prosopis alba) in southeastern Formosa, Argentina. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2017, vol.25, n.2, pp.116-124. ISSN 0328-0543.

This work was aimed at determining the species of Rhipibruchus of the Chrysomelidae family, subfamily Bruchinae (Coleoptera) and their population fluctuation in the adult state, in the different phenological phases of P. alba located in native forest formations in the southeast of Formosa, during the period 2012/2013, as well as the incidence of temperature, relative humidity and height of traps on their abundance and population growth rate. The insects were counted every 10 days using Scolytoidea-type catch traps with 95 % alcohol as chemical attractant placed at 1.5 and 3 meters high over the ground next to the individual. The Rhipibruchus prosopis Kingsolver species (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae-Bruchinae) was the main pest observed of the seed of P. alba with 125 adult specimens, representing 4.9 % of the total of insect captured. The highest abundance was recorded in the traps at 3 meters above ground level and coincides with the phenological phase of fruiting, indicating the greatest activity of the insects in the field. The insects show greater activity with values ranging from 20 to 30 °C and 70 and 85 % of relative humidity.
