BADAMI, P. A. et al. Supercritical fluid extraction of polyphenols from sweet suncho (Tessaria dodoneifolia) from Santiago del Estero. Comparison with conventional methods. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2018, vol.26, n.2, pp.60-60. ISSN 0328-0543.

The Tessaria dodoneifolia, aka suncho dulce, chilca, or chilca dulce among other names, is a branchy shrub belonging to the Asteraceae family, the most numerous in our country. It is a species native to the local forest, widely used by its inhabitants whether as a medicine or a source for natural dyes; its branches can even be employed in the construction of fish grills or flycatcher frames. As with other native species of the local forest, there is little information about the species, particularly from a chemical standpoint, which is crucial to heighten its value as a non-wooden forest product. Thus, this paper informs about the total polyphenolic and flavonoid content of this species obtained by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) in comparison with other two conventional extracting methods, namely reflux and maceration. The results show that even though the polyphenolic content obtained by SFE is slightly lower than that by the other two methods, its flavonoid content is higher which highlights the quality and selectivity of this technique.
