In the context of epistemological reflexions on the historiographic representation of the historical present, I believe that the traits usually considered to characterize the "history of the present", "recent" or "immediate" do not completely define these historiographical approaches but also the common currency and political and social relevance of its subject of study. This relevance refers to its effect on the present, as past focused by the historian is part of the problems of the immediate present and, in fact, you can start from them. The question arises then that the full social relevance and political and social significance that is usually the object of study of a history of the present, involves a fundamental trait of these paradigmatic approachs to modern history, with all the ideological, political and methodological connotations this implies. This is a current past in which problems closely related to the present still exist, which weighs on the present and that shapes a current history as particularly relevant approach of a history of the present. This approach contradicts the conventional and traditional history that takes prudent distance from the present or deliberately excludes it from the historiographic task on behalf of the positivist archetypes of truth and objectivity.
