MUJICA GARCIA, Juan Antonio e FABELO CORZO, José Ramón. The coloniality of being: the undervaluation of human life in the global south. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.2, pp.1-9. ISSN 1851-9490.
This paper consists of thematizing the coloniality of being in the south-global. In order to achieve this aim, the differences between colonialism and coloniality are identified and the emergence of the syntagma coloniality of being is analyzed in the framework of the theories of coloniality, which are situated, as a starting point, in the work of Aníbal Quijano. The coloniality of being consists of the undervaluation or cultural inferiorization of colonized human life. The coloniality of being enunciates the stripping of the human condition (dehumanization or sub-humanization) suffered by colonized Amerindian peoples (XVI-XVIII century) and which, at present, the south-global inhabitants continue to suffer.
