Twenty years after the publication of the Women's History in Argentina collection, this paper intends to resituate that inaugural publishing experience in a double record. In one sense, it maps the historiographic context in which this collective enterprise was developed, the feminist and historiographic matrices that inspired it, and some of the tensions present in the academic field in relation to the perspective of women's history and gender studies. In another sense, this paper highlights some of the marks that such an editorial enterprise generated throughout these two decades. By focusing on this set of inaugural papers, this writing seeks to bring together past and present research, where historical questions are found and tensioned, where research problems are assembled, where there is dialogue with other disciplines, where concepts are forged or reproduced, and finally where historical narratives are generated.
