BOBILLO, Federico Miguel  e  HOCSMAN, Salomon. MULTIPLE ACTIVITIESIN LITHIC SUPPLY CONTEXTS: THE ROLE OF OPEN AIR CAMPS IN A QUARRY-WORKSHOP AREA OF ANTOFAGASTA DE LA SIERRA (PUNA OF CATAMARCA). Relaciones [online]. 2020, vol.45, n.1, pp.1-25. ISSN 0325-2221.

In quarry-workshop areas individuals and groups carry out activities related to the supply of raw materials and the production of knapped tools. Associated to these or within them, specific or multiple activity areas can be found. The aim of this work is to evaluate the presence of these areas in quarries-workshop of Antofagasta de la Sierra (Catamarca, Argentina) since they could have functioned as multi-activity camps. For this, systematic surveys were carried out in order to locate new sites; samplings and a techno-typological analysis of lithic assemblages were carried out. From this study, two areas that would have functioned as multi-activity camps were identified. In these camps, individuals and groups would not only have carried out the collection of nodules, reduction of cores and extraction of blanks, but also the production of flaked stone tools to be used in the processing of resources of different nature.

Palavras-chave : camp - quarry-workshop - lithic procurement-flaked stone tools - Argentinean Puna.
