Three years ago I wrote much of the following text presented at the Third International Seminar on the Politics of Memoria: «Remembering Walter Benjamin». At that time in Cordoba was finishing one of the first genocide trial for crimes against humanity after declared unconstitutional the laws of Full Stop and Due Obedience. Menendez was condemned to perpetual imprisonment in common jail. Certainly I thought the stage of Testimony in Court was closed. Today, with the trial called «La Perla Megacauses» new citations strip backwards. The support group is larger. More psychologist in the accompanying equipment (linked to the National University of Cordoba and the National Comprehensive Programme Care and Assistance to the Plaintiff and Witnesses Victim of State Terrorism). More witnesses (almost 800), more attorneys plaintiffs (three teams of families and H.I.J.O.S., the Grandmothers of Plaza de mayo and Peace and Justice Ser vice). This does not save the enormous temporal and emotional estrangement in building the story of the concentration camps.
