VAZANO, Pablo. Mitigación de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) del transporte automotor de agrograneles al Puerto de Bahía Blanca hacia 2030. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2022, vol.31, n.2, pp.11-45. ISSN 1852-4265.

Within the motor freight transportation, there are particular characteristics that make us focus on the environmental performance of the grain and oilseed transport in Argentina, the average age of the vehicle fleet, the large volumes and increasing distances as the result of the expansion of the agricultural border, among others. In this work the ton- kilometers of the trips to the Port of Bahía Blanca, the tons exported through this port, and the probable modal distribution are calculated. It is also estimated a baseline for fuel consumption and emissions from the motor transport of grains and oilseeds up to 2030 according to the methodology of the Third National Communication. In addition, two scenarios are presented for emissions mitigation in compliance with the sustainable development goals. Based on the results, 480.060 tCO2e will be released into the atmosphere in 2030, as a consequence of the consumption of 52 million liters of diesel and transporting between 11 and 14 million tons of grains. Without considering the modal change, it is possible to achieve a 43,4% mitigation of CO 2 equivalent emissions by 2030 adopting measures within the motor sector for this case study of the equivalent CO2 emissions with measures within the automotive mode for this case study.
