SASSANO LUIZ, Silvana et al. Segunda generación de inmigrantes en Madrid: retos, prejuicios y discriminaciones. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.1, pp.39-70. ISSN 1852-4265.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.52292/j.rug.2022.31.1.0033.0051.

The study of second generations in Spain is becoming increasingly important as a result of their volume twenty years after the maximum number of arrivals of immigrants to our country. The main objective of our research is to address the effects of key variables such as place of residence, educational background and labor market insertion on the integration of the second generation of immigrants in the host society of Madrid. This analysis will allow us to conclude that there are no ethnic ghettos in Madrid, although some neighborhoods have a higher concentration of immigrants. Being a second-generation immigrant is a risk factor for educational success, just as language is essential for their integration; elements that are closely related to their labor market insertion.

Palavras-chave : Second generation; Immigration; Discrimination; School failure; Labor insertion.
