This article highlights the growing relevance of a gendered perspective in Mexican legal anthropology, in order to analyze questions related to the administration of justice to indigenous populations. Gender becomes an analytical category that allows us to understand gender ideologies manifested in the practices, procedures, and norms of indigenous and state law. This paper highlights how indigenous women use legality, which, in turn, has become an arena of multiple negotiations.
