CEI, José Miguel e VIDELA, F.. Singular evolutionary and taxonomic findings in remarkable Iguanian genera from andean and neighboring zones herpetofauna. Multequina [online]. 2002, vol.11, n.2, pp.65-73. ISSN 1852-7329.
This article reports and discuss the intriguing case of taxonomic relationships between Phymaturus sp. from Uspallata, Mendoza (2n= 30 cromosomes), still considered P. flagellifer, and P. palluma = P. flagellifer from Maule Valley, southern of Chile (2n= 36 cromosomes), having in mind their relationships with Centrura flagellifer Bell 1843 from the Cordilleran region from Uspallata to Santiago. The evolutionary position and karyotypes of both Phymaturus groups (the Northern "flagellifer", the Southern "patagonicus"), are commented. The phyletic relationships are analysed among Liolaemus lacking cloacal pores, corresponding to the "neuquensis" group from Malargüe, Mendoza and neighboring areas of Argentina and Chile, and the related forms of the "elongatus" group. An adecuate caryological information could bring a sustantial contribution.
