MANRIQUE, Josefina C.; ORTIZ, Sonia G.; VILLAVICENCIO, Héctor J. e BLANCO, Verónica. Structure and abundance of a bird assemblage of Presidente Sarmiento Provincial Park, San Juan. Multequina [online]. 2019, vol.28, n.1, pp.29-45. ISSN 1852-7329.
The Provincial Park Presidente Sarmiento protected area constitutes a typical mountain environment, with a particular area of flooded areas and lagoon environments, with marked anthropic influence. There are annual variations in the elevation of the lagoon bodies, subject to the water management of the Ullum Dam and the San Juan River. After a period of complete drying of the lagoon system, water levels were restored as of 2017. The objective of this study was to analyze the structure and abundance of the assemblage of birds in the Provincial Park Presidente Sarmiento, Zonda Department. Occupational chronological comparisons are also established. Survey of visual records was made through transects and fixed points of observation. The duassemblage of birds was characterized determining composition and abundance of species. Seventyone species of birds were recorded. Two species represent new records for the park: black-necked swan (Cygnus melancoryphus) and crowned eagle (Harpyhaliaetus coronatus). The assembly had a high diversity and fairness. These results provide relevant information to take management actions and conservation of the protected area.
