PARAVANO, María Antonella; ORTIGOZA, Liliana Del Valle  e  DEZAR, Gimena Valeria. Alimentary habits in young people - adults before and after an educational intervention . Diaeta [online]. 2019, vol.37, n.169, pp.27-33. ISSN 1852-7337.

Introduction: Nutrition Education (NE) offers contents and competences to work with at school. When nutrition education and school feeding are combined, this can contribute to improving the health and nutrition of students, while helping them develop good eating habits. Objective: To describe the change of habits after a nutritional- educational intervention in young people - adults. Materials and method: 100 students between 18 and 55 of both sexes who attended 3rd and 5th forms at a School of Secondary Education for Adults (EEMPA)- JUAN J. PASO No. 1305-, Santa Fe  City, during 2016. A diagnostic survey was applied to survey the eating habits of participants, followed by nutritional educational interventions (NEI). After that, the same initial assessment was applied again, in order to identify and compare the knowledge and practices acquired on healthy eating habits in relation to the messages of the Dietary Guidelines for the Argentine Population (GAPA) of 2016. Results: After the NEI, more than half (65%) of the students increased  the number of recommended daily meals and many of them started with the habit of having breakfast (72%). It is worth highlighting the consumption of white bread, wholemeal bread and toasts (51%), while observing a decrease in foods rich in saturated fat and simple sugars, such as sweet and salty cookies, facturas and biscuits. Regarding the recommended consumption of dairy products, it increased in most students (93%). The consumption of daily water also increased considerably (48%). Conclusions: Based on this experience, it was possible to show that although young people -adults have rooted dietary habits, some of these can be modified through NEIs.
