The note explores the limits of the question about years of marriage in the 1895 Argentine national population census. To do so, we made an estimate of women’s age at marriage using the census sample. The results are compared with exiting studies according to origin (Argentine and foreign) and place of residence. Finally, the reliability problems that affect the estimates are discussed, particularly those produced by the age and years of marriage declared.
