The present note reveals our journey to publishing the book Grupos Etnicos y Comunidades Originarias del Norte Argentino. The delimitation of the approached region –which includes 13 provinces– was the result of long years of field work during which we had the opportunity to access the reality in which native communities live and their daily struggles towards being acknowledged. It was considered pertinent to include the perspective of researchers and specialized referents in the subject, as well as thematic maps with the location of the communities. As a result, we identified 42 Ethnic Groups and 1568 Native Communities in said region.
