This article presents a reflection on motherhood as an artistic topic and examine its presence or absence in the discourse of contemporary culture as we consider the materialization of this discourse in the works of women artists. Our proposal is reading several works belonging both to artistic disciplines, painting and literature, separated approximately by a century that go from the pictorial surrealism to the current literature.
