ARENCIBIA LORENZO, Jesús. Guillermo Cabrera Álvarez and family literature. A newspaper column as a vortex of cultural management. Cuad. CILHA [online]. 2024, vol.25, n.1, e003.  Epub 15-Abr-2024. ISSN 1852-9615.  http://dx.doi.org/10.48162/rev.34.082.

The article explores from journalistic, communicological and literary dimensions the singular case of the column “Tecla Ocurrente”, conceived by writer Guillermo Cabrera Álvarez (1943-2007) in the Cuban newspaper Juventud Rebelde, from 2001 to 2007. Based on an original strategy of links and with its audiences, this weekly press space activated human networks based on the terms of literary enjoyment and solidarity, mocking the barriers between the stereotyped notions of "cultured" and "popular". Seminal texts by Pablo Neruda, Alfonsina Storni, Alejo Carpentier and others authors, and initiatives such as collective reading and writing, served the journalist/cultural manager as articulating axes for gatherings, competitions and contests and group proposals/performances in various cities of the island. The article is based on the author's master's thesis on Communication Sciences (El borrador del futuro..., University of Havana, 2012) and his book in process of writing En el ojo de una hormiga. Andares y azares de un escritor ocurrente. The research methods used are qualitative content analysis, semi-structured and in-depth interviews, and text analysis.
