GALLARDO, Gabriela A; TULLI, María J  e  SCCROCHI, Gustavo J. Dimorfismo sexual y ecología trófica de Aurivela tergolaevigata (Squamata, Teiidae). Rev. Mus. Argent. Cienc. Nat. [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.1, pp.45-50. ISSN 1853-0400.

Biology of Aurivela tergolaevigata is little known. Although its conservation status does not qualify it as threatened the deterioration of the dryland environments is very important for unsustainable land-management practices. The goal of this work was compare traits of sexual selection and / or fertility between males and females, and analyze the diet of lizards of Aurivela tergolaevigata. Measurements of body, head and abdomen were taken. Stomach contents were analyzed and the prey size was recorded in order to relate it to head size of the predator. We found differences in the diet bet ween sexes and seasons. The intersexual differences in the relative size of the head did not affect the size of the prey, although males had bigger heads than females. The difference between males and females in the relative size of the abdomen is explained in terms of fertility.
