ANFUSO, Jorge et al. Biodiversity inventory of the natural monument “Isla Palacio” (province of Misiones, Argentina). Rev. Mus. Argent. Cienc. Nat. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.2, pp.231-248. ISSN 1853-0400. http://dx.doi.org/10.22179/revmacn.22.696.
The Isla Palacio Natural Monument is a protected natural area in the province of Misiones, which was established after creating the reservoir due to the dam built on the Urugua-í stream. It was an area very studied in the mid-20th century by different naturalists and scientists. After several decades of transformation of its environment and 21 years of periodic censuses, its flora and fauna inventory is presented. Nine amphibians, 16 reptiles, 141 birds, 37 mammals, and 104 floristic species were recorded. Despite its small size, the area is home to species of particular value for conservation and, above all, it preserves a historical, folkloric, and cultural reference.
