CACCIABUE, Cecilia Guadalupe; SAVINO, María Natalia e BATTAUZ, Yamila Soledad. Contributions to the study of zooplankton assemblages in an urban lake of Entre Ríos province (Argentina). Rev. Mus. Argent. Cienc. Nat. [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.1, pp.89-97. ISSN 1853-0400. http://dx.doi.org/10.22179/revmacn.24.760.
The present work addresses the composition and structure of the zooplankton assem blage of the urban lake Escuela Rural Juan Bautista Alberdi (Oro Verde, Entre Ríos), in a spring-summer period (2017-2018). The objectives were analyze the zooplankton assemblage structure and its possible seasonal varia tions during the study period. Different physical-chemical parameters were measured and biweekly zooplankton samplings were carried out, for which three integrated of de water column samples, for each site were taken. For each sample, 30 liters of water were filtered through a 54 μm network. The zooplankton counts were carried out in 1 ml chambers, under an optical microscope and taxonomic identifications were made using different keys. The results showed that this lake has zooplanktonic organism’s characteristic of the Neotropical region. The total richness was 54 species, of which 49 were rotifers, mainly from the Lecanidae and Brachionidae families, 4 of cladocerans and 1 of copepods. Among the rotifers, the Bdelloidea subclass and the Lecane bulla species presented high densities. The average abundance of zooplankton was higher in the spring months (944,89 ind/l) than in the summer months (731,78 ind/l), while the species richness was higher in summer with 42 registered species. The littoral 2 and central sampling sites presented greater abundance than littoral 1, which is closer to the space of anthropic use. This work shows the importance of urban lake as sinks of biodiversity.
