This work reflects on the San Martín General Public Library as a place of memory, highlighting the value of the documentary heritage it guards. It presents the preliminary results of an approach to the newspaper collections that kept the Newspaper Library. After examining the main instances of the formation of the collection through the exploration of the institutional history of the library, it presents a brief description of its most outstanding characteristics based on the analysis of the catalogue. Finally, the reflection focuses on the impact of technological transformations in the world of libraries, giving an account of the challenges and opportunities that the digital turn has opened.
