This article reproduces a newspaper article that the author conducted for the Journal Página 12, in 2008. This is a rich field research that Garcia Recoaro developed deeping in the Bolivian highlands and has kindly offered to the academic world in this issue of Cuadernos. The paper shows how through the phenomenon of fashion native people try to maintain their identity despite the constraints imposed by european spanish colony.
