The present work addresses the concept of urban landscape from a legal perspective, considering its impact on legal systems in Latin America, and on the Latin American Landscape Initiative. Based on this analysis, we formulate a concept of Latin American Urban Landscape that includes citizens’ participation, and which aims at social inclusion, economic development and the preservation of the identity of Latin American cities. We indicate possible tools that can contribute to the consolidation of this concept in public law, taking as our point of departure diverse experiences carried out, such as the creation of specific planning instruments or commissions that facilitate citizens’ participation.
