DIEGUEZ, Facundo. Plataformas mediáticas de los museos de artes visuales: mediación técnica, mediatización e interdisciplina. Consideraciones preliminares para el abordaje analítico. Cuad. Cent. Estud. Diseñ. Comun., Ensayos [online]. 2023, n.119, pp.180-189.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 1853-3523.

The place of media platforms (Fernández, 2018; Scolari, 2008, 2015; Carlón, 2014) in the social life of the last decade seems to be characterized, among other phenomena, by the expansion of the uses of the Internet as the main device for mediatization (Verón, 2013). We consider that the analysis of technical mediation and its position as a enunciator in absence (Latour, 1998) requires an interdisciplinary revision of the place and the strategies of institutional enunciation.

In today’s everyday life, to visit a visual arts exhibition in the city of Buenos Aires implies not only a physical displacement towards the material place. Increasingly, the previous - or almost simultaneous - figurative immersion in institutional websites and social networks is part of the museum’s proposal. With greater insistence, contact with social spaces such as those of the museum requires various discursive exchanges on media platforms.

We will try to observe how the mediatization carried out by visual arts museums provokes changes of scale (Veron, 2013) in the performative action of diverse social spaces dedicated to the exhibition of artistic proposals -Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA) and National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA) mainly.

On the other hand, the theoretical literature of the social sciences at the beginning of the 20th century has repeatedly pointed out the breakdown or loss of the relative autonomy of the social spheres together with the logic of their practices which, before -at least during the modernity of the 19th century- remained autonomous due to the differentiation and rationalization of the modern process of disenchantment with the world (Weber, 2002) and its secularization with respect to the previous religious order.

This autonomy that the art world experienced with the foundation of the Aesthetics as a modern discipline and of artistic practice as a regime of the sensible-beautiful, associated with the names of Baumgarten and Kant, seems to have been dynamited today and only the “Art effect” (Carlon, 2014) remains, along with the remains of the media system reconfigured by the Internet.

We will try to analyze the way in which the museum is transformed from the fall of the traditional media system and the gradual reconfiguration given by the deployment of transmedia logic and social networks.
