Citizen participation in urban public space can be exploited by design activity, counteracting the manipulation of dominant forces that model city usability and create segregation patterns. Designers, conscious of their social responsibility and through a humanistic vision, modify the spatial arrangement and the sense of belonging of the individ-uals, that is, objects, messages, systems and experiences are configured as potentialists of the dynamics of urban everyday life and the affirmation of the right the city. The present article explores the concept of alterity as a path or inspiration that intercedes the design practices, being these practices explored in this work by the action of the Micrópolis Col-lective, in an intervention project in the Calafate neighborhood, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in the brief analysis of the impact of urban balconies on the streets and sidewalks of the city, which describes attributes directed to the use of inclusive furniture and description of design project, called Borrachalioteca Sobre Rodas (BSR), published and implemented for the community of Sabará, Brazil. The purpose of this work is to stimulate the reflection of the current dialogues about the experience and the humanization of the city.
