This article is based on the partial results of a doctoral thesis on "The management of metropolitan areas. Socio - territorial changes in the Greater Resistencia and Greater Corrientes areas, Argentina". The aim of this article is to reflect on the current situation of the cities of Corrientes and Resistencia and their areas of influence in order to advance in the characterization of the area so as to promote a better use of available resources, create opportunities for development, and improve the inhabitants'quality of life without detriment to future generations.
