In this article we start from the current debate in social work profession as strongly anchored in the making and with few forays into research activity. To do this, we return notions of the theoretical proposal of Bourdieu as an input to think the debates and reflections that guide the doctoral thesis    -still in course- under the name of Production of Knowledge in Social Work: its relationship with the academic field and intervention. An exploration in the city of Rosario between 1990-2010. On this occasion, we consider first address the issue of construction of the object and then, retrieve the categories of habitus and field, coined by author, in order to use them as theoretical tools for our project.
