GARCIA DE FANELLI, Ana. La cuestión de la graduación en las universidades nacionales de la Argentina: Indicadores y políticas públicas a comienzos del siglo XXI. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2015, n.43, pp.17-31. ISSN 1995-7785.

The paper addresses the low graduation rate in the Argentine public university sector and the public and institutional policies implemented in the first decade of the 2000s that affected this issue. In a period characterized by increasing public university funding, higher wages, and the growth of academic posts, the total number of alumni and the graduation rate showed a degree of improvement. In addition to these favorable conditions for the development of teaching activities, public policies supporting quality assurance promoted mentoring in undergraduate programs and an increase in the number of scholarships for low-income undergraduate students. The article concludes with a reflection on the possible association between these public and institutional policies and the improvements observed in graduation rates, as well as highlighting the scope and challenges current public policies face to improve university graduation levels and the quality of university teaching.
