Abstract

The article proposes a characterization of the self-employment of young people who live in the Gran Resistencia urban agglomeration (Chaco Province), showing its relevance in quantitative terms and its increase during the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Subsequently, an analysis of the theoretical-conceptual frameworks that guide contemporary public policies aimed at promoting this modality of work is presented.

It is identified that each of the existing approaches derive in specific ways of understanding demands that are currently made to the field of training and that they are diverse and even, on occasions, opposed. However, these differences are not always recognized or recovered in the public debate.

Descriptive statistical processing is used, using as a source the individual micro databases of the Permanent Household Survey (EPH) belonging to the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of the Argentine Republic (INDEC) for the first part of the work and documentary analysis, for the second.
