This paper studies the first play written by Mauricio Kartun for Teatro Abierto, "La casita de los viejos", directed by Agustín Alezzo in 1982, at the Margarita Xirgu Theater, in Buenos Aires.  It is the second play published by Kartun, whose first edition appears in 1985 with "Cumbia morena cumbia" and other plays of other colleague authors of the writing workshop dictated by Ricardo Monti. We analyze the relationship between "La casita de los viejos" and Chau Misterix (1980), the previous text written by Kartun, above all, emphasizing of the popular intertext and the use of expressionism, which allows a politic reading in spite of its apparent distancing with respect to politic explicit references.
